Today I learned about Olof Palme, the anti-Communist Social Democrat Swedish Prime Minister who hitchhiked across the US, vocally and monentarily supported gender equality, public-supported modernization of children’s health care, nuclear power, and Third World liberation movements (including Castro’s Cuba), and was assassinated in the street by parties unknown in 1986.
